Island Creative 2022 #01 | LIVING at SEASIDE and relations to SUSTAINABILITY (2)

This creative stay is based in Palma de Mallorca with easy reach to  sea shores and surrounding coastlines.

Through our photography gathering and research will this spring project be an entrance to our approach to be useful as photographers and citizen scientists at the same time. Each artist can develop various photography views on environmental issues of the island and possibilities of local natural materials to be included into an art work - as algae for example.

Nature of Mallorca was very much loved, protected and pictured by the Archduke Louis Salvador, our czech-majorcan connection, who also as a scientist himself devoted his time to deep research of majorcan landscape, flora and fauna. Our aim is to focus on contemporary questions within this background and to communicate them in photography stories. The gathering will be accompanied - for those interested - by the 1,5 day training in Snorkelling, SeaWatchers and MedGuardians activities led by cooperating professionals in Port Pollensa.

As a constant visual thinker, passionate photographer and an amateur explorer I will help you to direct your own work within this program. My interest is beside other topics to keep exploring the relation between nature elements and human mentality and state of mind, thus my approach to photography crosses from document into conceptual work and staged documentary photography.

Other guests and photography co-operators related to the topic are in negotiation and will be announced. Technical support and production of final prints chosen to be exhibited is guaranted. As a part of our program we will visit some important art places of the island.

Our main goal is to develope our ability to use photography media for communication and learn together in a joyful and free athmosphere. Only important conditions for participation are love for photography, real interest in deeper understanding of the island Mallorca and the motivation to be useful by one's own photography research to local life. 

We wish to be useful to the island, not just consume its beauty.
